CAIR: We Demands Minneapolis Mayor Frey Order Local Police Probe Of Latest Deadly Shooting By Federal Officers
By CAIR Photos: YouTube Screenshots The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and its Minnesota chapter (CAIR-MN) today demanded that Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey order local law enforcement authorities to investigate the latest deadly shooting by federal officers in Minneapolis and called for the removal of all Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) forces from the state. SEE: Man Feds Killed in Minneapolis Was an Observer, Eyewitness Says Federal officers shot and killed a man today in Minneapolis. Video shows multiple officers wrestling with the man, with one officer firing a number of shots into his motionless body after he was shot. Authorities say the shooting victim was a white male and an American citizen. He was a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry a weapon. In a statement, CAIR-MN Executive Director Jaylani Hussein said: “These repeated shootings represent a dangerous pattern that has deeply shaken public trust. When lethal force is used again and again in our neighborhoods, the investigation cannot be left solely to the same federal system that carried out the operation. Minnesota families deserve a process that is local, independent, civilian-led, and fully transparent.” “CAIR-MN stands with the families and neighbors impacted by these shootings and will continue to advocate for justice, transparency, and the protection of civil rights for all Minnesotans.” CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said: “We call on Mayor Frey to order the Minneapolis Police Department to take control of the scene of the latest deadly ICE shooting, launch an independent criminal probe, and protect peaceful protesters at the scene from ICE violence. “Calling for ICE to leave is not enough. This shooting happened on a city street in the jurisdiction of the Minneapolis law enforcement and they must lead an independent investigation into what appears to be another horrific, unnecessary execution of a Minneapolis resident. “ICE should immediately end its deadly and disastrous siege of Minnesota and turn over all evidence and information about this shooting and the prior shooting of Rene Good to local authorities.” Earlier this month, CAIR-MN similarly called for an independent and transparent investigation of the ICE-involved fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis.
