Cardi B slipped into a sharp black blazer, swept her hair into a sleek updo and showed up ready to work. Work the microphone, that is.

For her first-ever NPR Tiny Desk Concert, the Bronx rapper did not disappoint. Backed by a live band and her background singers, Cardi ran through eight songs on Oct. 19 in front of one of the biggest crowds NPR’s team says it has ever seen. Her set moved from “Hello” and “Up” to fan favorites “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It.”

Within hours, video of the performance went viral, and fans haven’t stopped cheering her on. With crisp lyrics and clean live arrangements, the intimate setting put Cardi’s skills as a lyricist front and center. It also showed how much she has grown, and for many, it shut down haters. Yes, Cardi!

Cardi’s ‘NPR’ Tiny Desk Fit Was Also Fire – And A Whole Fashion Moment

In true Cardi fashion, her fit matched her lyrics: also fire. The Bronx rapper rocked a vintage black Mugler blazer pulled straight from the runway archives.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell first worked the piece on the runway around 1990, and more than three decades later, Cardi brought it to life at the Tiny Desk. Silver star embellishments, wide lapels and a buckled, cinched waist gave the blazer its fierceness.

Styled by Kollin Carter, Cardi paired the jacket with glossy black body-hugging Venus Prototypex pants and kept her accessories simple. The femcee pulled her black hair into a polished bun, letting bangs and longer pieces frame her face.

Sis was not playing with this look, and neither was her crew. Her background singers/rappers gave us life too, serving their own versions of Cardi’s all-black suit moment.

Celebrities Showed Cardi Love In The Comments

Celebrities and fans flooded Cardi’s comments with love. Kelly Rowland kept it short and sweet: “I. LOVE. THIS!!” Kelly also shared the concert in her stories.

Fellow Bronx native Remy Ma gave Cardi her flowers: “I love the breath control the way you have grown with this music sh*t needs to be documented. I’m happy so happy for you.” Keeping the Bronx pride going, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez added, “You make the Bronx proud today and always.” Porsha Williams brought the group chat energy: “Whew THE BEST !! Let’s gooo.”
