One of the islands that cluster the Eastern Caribbean, Antigua has become a popular getaway for tourists from Europe and North America. Causion, the country’s official reggae ambassador, helps attract them to his homeland.
‘Feels Like I’m Dreaming’, his latest song promoting Antigua’s leisure industry, was released in June. Like previous songs with similar themes, Causion co-wrote and co-produced the track with Maurice Gregory, the former Third World keyboardist and younger brother of Papa San.
The South Florida-based Causion was in Antigua recently, filming a video for ‘Feels Like I’m Dreaming’. That visual was also released in June.
“Antigua isn’t just where I’m from — it’s who I am. When I sing about this island, I’m singing about the people who raised me, the roads I walked, the sunsets that shaped how I see the world,” Causion said. “It never gets routine. If anything, it gets more powerful with each song because I understand now what this place means — not just to me, but to everyone who has ever called it home or dreamed of coming here.”
Causion worked with Elite Island Resorts on earlier songs projecting the Antiguan tourist brand. Those are ‘Antigua me Come From’, ‘Caribbean Vacation’, ‘Sunny Day’ and ‘Tropical State of Mind’.
He disclosed that the visuals for the songs have generated over one million views on social media. It has helped boost Antigua as a holiday destination, especially after the global Covid-19 which caused a significant drop in arrivals.
According to the Antigua Tourism Authority, over 1.5 million people vacationed in Antigua and its sister island Barbuda in 2025. In May, Colin James, the organisation’s chief executive officer, said the country welcomed 110,832 stay-over visitors during the first quarter of 2026, with record arrivals in January, February and March.
Born Gregory Bailey, Causion was raised in an Antigua that touted its 365 beaches and amazing cricketers, led by Vivian Richards, arguably the greatest batsman that game has produced.
While most of his countrymen were into soca, Causion was drawn to reggae from Jamaica. He listened to roots giants like Bob Marley, Third World and Culture which shaped his sound when he began recording music in the late 1980s.
With ‘Feels Like I’m Dreaming’, he expresses a genuine patriotism for Antigua.
“This island gave me everything. Being part of the team that introduces it to the world feels like paying that back,” he said.
