A few months after opening up to the world about a daunting health battle, influencer and content creator Obio Jones is sharing the best update possible: he is officially cancer-free.
Jones, who revealed his testicular cancer diagnosis earlier this year, took to Instagram to celebrate the monumental health milestone. He posted a touching video montage chronicling his journey, featuring text overlays that guided viewers through his experience.
The video began with the text “me before cancer,” transitioned to “me during cancer,” and triumphantly concluded with the words, “me without cancer… anywhere in my body.”
In his accompanying caption, Jones reflected on the arduous journey with immense gratitude and a powerful sense of resilience.
“This whole journey reminded me that perspective is everything. Life throws wild chapters at you, but they don’t get to define the whole book. Shit happens, but so does strength. I do want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for every prayer and good energy sent my way. Means more than you’ll know. *licks finger and turns the page.”
The news was echoed by his husband, The Upshaws actor Jermelle Simon Jones, who took to Twitter to share his relief and happiness with a simple, yet powerful message for his followers: “My husband is cancer free.”

He admitted that he had initially ignored his symptoms, which began with severe discomfort during a trip to Disneyland last summer, because he didn’t want to be a “burden” or a “Debbie Downer” to those around him.

And so I thought it wouldn’t happen to me,” he previously shared, hoping his story would serve as a wake-up call.
