Driver goes to Pennsylvania truck stop. Then he sees what the shower costs—and something else: ‘Gonna scar me for the rest of my life’

A trucker has a request for Pennsylvania truck stops: Lower the price of the showers, because otherwise, drivers might start exposing themselves outside.

The trucker, Dylan Biddle (@_dylanbiddle_), described a situation where he saw another trucker washing himself while completely naked on the catwalk of his vehicle. The encounter, which occurred in Erie, Pennsylvania, was not what the TikToker wanted to see on “any given day of the week.”

He posted a video describing how and why he saw another trucker bathing in a very public area, which resonated with at least some viewers. The post has over 194,000 views.

Seeing Another Man’s Behind at a Pennsylvania Truck Stop

Biddle, who was working a 12-stop load that would drive through Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire, had pulled into an Erie TA truck stop about 40 minutes before his first destination.

He washed his truck and parked it in a corner in the very last row. There, he settled down for the night. Another truck, though, would quickly change his plans.

“I’m watching TV. I’m eating. Next thing I know, [a] truck comes circling up right in front of me, lining up to back into this spot next to me,” Biddle said. He noted that the travel center was huge and that the trucker could have parked anywhere. Instead, he parked directly next to Biddle’s vehicle.

The man reportedly struggled and “jackknifed” his way into the parking spot for five minutes. Then, he finally settled and shut the truck off. Biddle said about 20 or 30 minutes later, he heard “water rushing” and “liquid smacking” the ground. At first, the TikToker figured the man might’ve dumped some liquids like urine on the ground after a long trip. He got curious, though, after it continued longer than expected, and decided to look through a small hatch in his truck to see what the man was actually doing.

That’s when he saw the man fully nude, washing himself in the parking lot of the TA.

Are TA’s Showers That Expensive?

One of Biddle’s first reactions that he posted was to question why TA’s showers were so expensive that he had to see someone showering outside. Then, he simply questioned why the man didn’t just pay for a TA shower.

It’s unclear exactly how much the Erie showers cost, but truck stop shower prices can range from $5 to $15. TA truck shops specifically run on the pricier end. One TA shower, for instance, can cost $15–$17. Viewers shared that they’ve seen other TA showers cost “$19-$28.”

That forces some truckers to look for alternatives. Commenters suggested they try gym memberships for easy access to a shower, but viewers quickly said that wouldn’t be possible. Truckers can’t park 18-wheelers outside of most gyms.

According to Biddle’s comments section, that can sometimes leave one available option for those working in desolate conditions: Find a spot in the middle of nowhere to shower. An oilfield worker, for instance, shared that they regularly shower outside. “I shower outside my truck all the time in the summer, but I do it out in the middle of nowhere,” the TikToker said. “Working in the oilfield, showers aren’t always available.”

Commenters Debate The Issue

Commenters were split down the middle on whether or not it was fair for Biddle to look over at what the man was doing or even care. Multiple viewers said that if Biddle didn’t look out of his hatch, he wouldn’t even have an issue in the first place.

“To be fair. If you minded your business, you wouldn’t have seen it,” one viewer said. Another person replied, saying, “That’s public indecency. there could’ve been kids around. There is no reason for him to be doing that in public.”

The driver showering outside in a public space does constitute indecent exposure, especially considering the fact that he was in a public space where anyone can technically see his actions. Pennsylvania specifically dictates that the law applies “under circumstances where the person knows or should know the conduct would offend, affront, or alarm someone.”

Despite this, multiple commenters told Biddle to just leave the situation alone and to mind his business in the future.

AllHipHop reached out to Biddle via TikTok direct message and comment. We’ve also sent an email to TA for more information. We’ll let you know if they respond.
