Family of slain IFP councillor seeks justice
Mthimkhulu was laid to rest in the Mkhazane area of Ulundi in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
The family of late Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) councillor in the Rand West City Local Municipality in Gauteng, Mzwandile Mthimkhulu, has called on police to urgently arrest those responsible for his killing.
Mthimkhulu was laid to rest in the Mkhazane area of Ulundi in northern KwaZulu-Natal. He was shot and killed after attending a community meeting in Bekkersdal last week.
His uncle, Mgcineni Mthimkhulu, says the family wants justice for their loved one.
“We are devastated by Mbuso’s departure. We wish the police can find his killers urgently. We can only be consoled if the police find his killers and that’s all we want as the family. This is another blow to us as the family because in May, we were burying Mbuso’s younger brother who was also killed the same way. This has hurt us deeply and we wish the perpetrators can be found.”
Meanwhile, Mthimkhulu’s children have paid a heartfelt tribute to their father, saying they will dearly miss the love, guidance and support he gave them throughout their lives.
“Every time when I was texting my dad requesting something, he wouldn’t say no, he would do it immediately. There’s not much I can say, except to say rest in peace dad, God will be with us. He would always tell me to pray when life gets tough, and I will do as he told me, he is resting now, we trust God to do justice,” says Mthimkhulu’s eldest daughter, Xolisile Mthimkhulu.
