By Zoila Palma: The Government of Belize, through the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU) of the Office of the Prime Minister, in collaboration with the Corozal Think Tank, has advanced efforts to strengthen digital skills among young Belizeans through a Digital Marketing and CRM Training programme.
Today, a graduation ceremony was held in Corozal following the completion of the programme earlier this year.
The initiative targeted young and early-career participants ages 15 and up, along with a small group of adult learners, providing them with digital competencies aligned with international certification standards.
Participants received training in industry-standard platforms including Canva, Shopify, Zoho CRM, Zapier, AdRoll and Taboola, while covering digital marketing strategy, content creation, social media marketing, e-commerce, customer relationship management, marketing automation, analytics and search engine optimization.
A total of 41 students from the Corozal District successfully completed the course, with most coming from Chunox St. Viator Vocational High School. Participants reported gaining practical skills in digital marketing, content production, social media management, e-commerce platforms, CRM systems and analytics.
The programme also incorporated soft skills such as communication, teamwork, time management, professional presentations and self-confidence, with participants reporting greater preparedness to engage with potential employers.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Minister of Human Development, Family Support and Gender Affairs Thea Garcia Ramirez, IPCU Director Lincoln Blake, Corozal ITVET Chairman Froylan Gilharry, Chunox St. Viator Vocational High School Principal Marconie Moh and Corozal Think Tank member Juan Carlos Menzies.
Christian Junior, head trainer from UK-based Rhics Ltd., which provided the training, participated virtually.
The programme forms part of efforts to equip Belizeans with skills relevant to the country’s growing digital services sector, including business process outsourcing, micro-businesses and public-sector digital transformation.
