Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, currently running for governor as a Democrat, released a new campaign TV ad this week. The ad, which urges voters to “Vote by May 19,” is released amid TV ads from fellow gubernatorial candidates Jason Esteves, Burt Jones, and Rick Jackson.
In Bottoms’ ad, which is also available on YouTube, she references the current United States President, Donald Trump. “The problem’s not that Donald Trump doesn’t like me, it’s that he doesn’t care about you. He’s rigging the system, trying to erase us, and thinks we won’t fight back.”
Bottoms, who once worked for the Biden administration after her one term as Atlanta Mayor, has been clear that she does not support the Trump Administration’s agenda.
In the 30–second ad, Bottoms discusses the rising cost of living and healthcare for Georgians. She also talks about a guaranteed Pre-K education for all four-year-old Georgians as part of an early education plan. In her overall campaign plan, Bottoms says that, as governor, she would ask voters to approve a constitutional amendment allowing legal casino gaming in Georgia. The idea being that hundreds of millions of dollars would be generated from legal gambling and used to cover the costs of universal Pre-K education.
The plan to legalize casino gaming was not mentioned in the ad.
The ad closes with, “I’m Keisha Lance Bottoms, we’re still here, and it’s time they heard.”
