Just six years after opening, Brixton’s independent hardware store, Hammertime DIY, has now permanently closed.
Located at 50 Atlantic Road, right in the centre of town, the small shop was a handy place to pick up supplies, and its closure is another reflection on the demise of traditional High St shops.
The shop’s Google reviews reveal what a popular asset it was to the local community:
S: I’ve been here a few times. The service has always been good. Think it’s a family run place or friends. The shop is always clean and tidy the staff is always there to help and I think the prices are reasonable.

J: Hammertime is a really useful and much-needed store in Brixton. All the usual local supermarkets are lacking in DIY products, but Hammertime makes up the shortfall and then some. Friendly service too!
