Saint Lucian Berty James, who goes by Humble Official, has released a new 16-track album called The Grammy. The album blends soca, dancehall, Afrobeat, bouyon, Dennery segment and gospel music to reach a wide and diverse audience.
The album also includes a Caribbean summer anthem for 2026 called Summertime. It brings together local talent and both local and international award-winning producers. James says the album aims to introduce a fresh sound to listeners in Saint Lucia and beyond.
“I feel grateful and I give thanks to the Most High for allowing me to be a blessing to this world by releasing this album,” James said in an interview with St Lucia Times. “I know that this album will cement Humble Official as a professional in the music industry.”
James said he wants to help move the local music industry forward and is “really interested in taking music in St. Lucia to another level.” He described the album as unique in both sound and structure, saying, “my album is different from other albums because it’s multi-faceted.”
The 16-track album covers several genres to appeal to a broad audience. “It consists of a wide variety of genres to cater to the wider audience,” he said. Listeners can expect “soca, afrobeat, bouyon, dancehall, gospel, Dennery segment and more.”
James thinks the album’s variety will help fans connect with it in different ways. “Everyone can find a song or more on there that they love,” he said. He is confident the album will appeal to listeners in Saint Lucia and abroad.
James also hopes the album will get major recognition. “My goal for this year is to get this album into the Grammy Awards,” he said. He knows it is a big goal but stays positive, saying, “I know it’s a long shot but my mind is limitless.”
He credits his confidence to both self-belief and faith. “If anyone can do it, I can because I believe in myself and I believe in the Most High and together we are unstoppable.”
