By Zoila Palma: The United Kingdom is preparing for another spell of extreme heat, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 35C (95F) across parts of England and Wales next week.
The return of hot weather comes after much-needed rain in northern and north-western parts of the country, with many areas expected to once again reach heatwave threshold levels.
The UK has already experienced three heatwaves this year, with heatwave conditions recorded in late May, June and July, BBC reports.
While cooler weather brought an end to the third heatwave across most of England and Wales last weekend, temperatures in Usk, Monmouthshire, and Exeter, Devon, have continued to meet heatwave criteria for 20 consecutive days, the longest such run recorded so far this year.
Forecasters expect high pressure to build near southern parts of the UK next week, limiting rainfall and allowing temperatures to rise.
Much of England and Wales could see temperatures between 25C and 32C, with the hottest conditions initially focused on central and eastern England before spreading north and west.
