A man (39) has been arrested at Keetmanshoop for allegedly killing his girlfriend during a fight and for allegedly possessing cannabis.

National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, in a police report released on Sunday, says the incident occurred at about 09h40 on Saturday at a house in Ileni location.

The couple allegedly had an argument which escalated into a physical fight, during which the suspect allegedly killed his girlfriend.

The deceased, Wilhelmina Waterboer (39), was declared dead when an ambulance arrived at the scene.

“No visible injuries or open wounds were detected on the body of the deceased, the suspicion is internal injuries,” Shikwambi says.

She says the suspect was arrested and during his arrest and detention, the police allegedly found him in possession of one bankie of cannabis.

The value of the cannabis has not yet been determined.

Waterboer’s body was transported to the Keetmanshoop mortuary pending autopsy.

The police say the suspect is expected to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Shikwambi says Waterboer’s next of kin have been informed and police investigation continues.

The incident allegedly occurred at about 21h00 at Tumweneneni location, where the teenager and another suspect allegedly attacked the man with knives.

“The two suspects used knives to stab a 36-year-old Namibian male complainant several times on the back and caused serious injuries,” she says.

The victim was taken to Rundu Intermediate Hospital and is in a serious condition.

One of the suspects allegedly fled the scene and remains at large.

Police investigations into both incidents are continuing.

In another incident, two women aged 50 and 26 were arrested at Oshakati on Friday after they were found selling controlled wildlife products without a valid permit.
