The Kingdom of Morocco has been selected to host the 77th FIFA Congress in 2027.
The event will be elective in nature, with FIFA member associations gathering to choose a new president to succeed Gianni Infantino, who was re-elected at the previous elective congress held in Kigali in 2023.
The decision follows a clear trajectory. FIFA had already chosen Rabat as the location for its first-ever regional office in Africa — a meaningful sign of the trust placed in Morocco as a central pillar of both African and Arab football.
Hosting the elective congress represents the next logical step in that relationship.
On the pitch, Morocco currently ranks 8th in the FIFA world rankings, first on the African continent and in the Arab world.
The country’s recent record speaks for itself: a historic semi-final run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a U20 World Cup title in 2025, and continental glory with the Africa Cup of Nations trophy also won in 2025.
Few nations have assembled such a concentrated run of results in such a short period of time.
With less than three years to go before co-hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, Morocco approaches this institutional milestone as a country well accustomed to the demands of global football.
