National striker Shalon Knight recorded a late double to lift Swetes Vipers FC to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Willikies FC when they met in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) First Division on Wednesday.
Playing at the FA’s Technical Center, Knight scored in the 63rd and 88th minutes to complete a brace and hand Swetes three valuable points. Dejzmatch Christian had put Willikies ahead in the 17th minute.
Meanwhile, aided by own-goals from Antoniel Campbell in the third minute and Andrew Bowen in the 61st minute, Ottos Rangers beat English Harbour FC 3-1 when they met at the Radio Range playing field.
Former national player, Clarence Marsh, had put English Harbour ahead in the first minute before Campbell’s own-goal offered Rangers some relief. Zabuda McCoy then put Rangers ahead 2-1 when he struck in the 39th minute before Bowen inadvertently put the ball into the back of his own net to make it 3-1 in the 61st minute.
Also on Wednesday, defending champions Parham FC and SAP FC played to a 2-2 draw at the FA’s Technical Center.
Taysean Merrick put SAP ahead in the 13th minute before goals from Davrick Lockhart in the 47th and Juan Oxley in the 50th, temporarily put Parham in the driver’s seat. An added time strike by Tyrique Tonge quieted Parham’s celebrations while ensuring a point for the Bolans men.
In the other match contested, Jennings United defeated Golden Grove 3-2. Goalscorers for the match were not readily available.
