During an interview with “Swiftologist” that was released on Sunday, Lizzo discussed the poor sales of her latest album [b-word expletive].
The follow up to her critically acclaimed and Grammy Award-winning 2022 album “Special,” only sold 2,649 copies during its first week of its June 5 release.
“There was, like, 24 hours of my life where I based my success and my worth on a number,” Lizzo said. “And I think that was soul-crushing.”
The album also failed to chart on the Billboard 200, according to Rolling Stone.
“I was really stressed and I was really sad for a few days because I was like, ‘Wait a minute. This is some of my best stuff,” Lizzo said. “I want people to find it.’”
She also said that she had to “come to terms with the fact that her connection, musically, with the world is different than it once was” with the release of the record – which is her fifth studio album.
