The (NDC) has called for the immediate removal of the Chief of Staff to President, over alleged involvement in a massive corruption scandal linked to a purported government agency and the alleged sale of public appointments.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the party expressed concern over allegations involving Gbajabiamila and Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who reportedly claims to be the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an agency the Presidency has denied exists.
According to the NDC, the alleged non-existent agency was used to siphon public funds, raising questions about transparency and accountability within the current administration. The party said allegations that the PFIPC received allocations in the 2026 budget and opened multiple accounts with the, including a domiciliary account, a pounds sterling account, and a Treasury Single Account, were troubling.
The party questioned how an agency allegedly not recognised by the Presidency could successfully open such accounts and secure administrative approvals, including the reported approval of 314 staff positions by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
The NDC also cited allegations that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 percent of the agency’s take-off grant, estimated at over N27.3 billion. It further referenced claims by Adeyemi that he paid N400 million through proxies as part of a N600 million arrangement to secure his appointment.
The opposition party described the allegations as indicative of deep-rooted corruption and alleged institutional abuse within the administration.
The party also raised concerns over the death of Babatunde Tanimola, described as an intermediary in the alleged dealings, who reportedly died in a fire incident at a hotel in October 2025. It further noted claims by Adeyemi of multiple assassination attempts.
Among its demands, the NDC called for the immediate removal of Gbajabiamila to allow for an independent investigation, the establishment of a special investigative panel, and a forensic review of all relevant documents signed by the Chief of Staff since assuming office.
The party also urged anti-corruption agencies, including the (EFCC), the (ICPC), and the, to commence a full investigation into the matter.
The NDC insisted that Nigerians deserve a transparent process and warned against what it described as attempts to dismiss the allegations through routine official denials.
