*”Blind Side” star Quinton Aaron is speaking out since suffering a near-fatal spinal stroke in January that left him unconscious for four days and dependent on breathing assistance for an entire month. But the health crisis was only part of the story — while fighting for his life, a shocking personal revelation about the woman he believed was his wife was about to surface, USA Today reports.
The sit-down, which aired April 20 on “Good Morning America,” marked Aaron’s first time speaking publicly about the ordeal. During his hospitalization, Aaron’s family uncovered records showing that his wife, Margarita DeLeon, was still legally married to another man — Eric Guzman — a union dating back to 1992. The finding meant DeLeon had no legal standing to make medical decisions on Aaron’s behalf. “That’s what eventually led to the doctors removing her from around me,” Aaron told ABC News.
Aaron said DeLeon had repeatedly assured him throughout their relationship that she had been divorced for more than a decade. The couple married in Los Angeles in 2024.

“The entire time we were together, she told me she had been divorced for 10-plus years,” he said. “She even told the person where we were getting married, ‘Oh yes, I have all the documents. I can email over to you the divorce decree.'”
Aaron acknowledged that failing to verify the information himself was his biggest mistake. “If I had a chance to do it over, I would have done my due diligence. I would’ve definitely done a lot more research.”
DeLeon responded with her own account, telling ABC News she had no knowledge that her divorce from Guzman had never been finalized. Guzman, who only recently filed to formally end the marriage in February, said he too had assumed the divorce had gone through years earlier.
At the Rehabilitation Hospital of Atlanta, Aaron works through an intensive daily therapy regimen of three hours to rebuild his ability to walk. Doctors have estimated the process could take up to a year, but Aaron is not accepting that timeline. “I’ll be walking a lot sooner than you think,” he said. “That’s just how I believe. That’s how, you know, between me, my faith, and my relationship with God.”
The stroke also prompted a deeper personal reckoning. “I started paying attention to my body,” Aaron said. “Because I found out over the years, it was speaking very disrespectfully to me, and I was ignoring it.”
