Rachel Chinouriri is pleased to announce her highly anticipated second album I think I spoke too soon out Friday 16th October 2026 via Parlophone / Atlas Artists.
She also shares the album’s lead single ‘One song away from crying’, a grooving, iridescent, synth-pop number beamed directly from the dancefloor in a moment of insecurity: “she’s never looked better and she’s never felt worse”, Rachel sings. The track’s accompanying video, directed by Dora Paphides, finds Rachel escaping a party she doesn’t want to be at into an uncanny, dreamlike realm.
“‘One song away from crying’ is about the precipice of a night out where you know you need to leave and have to make a decision. It’s a deeper decision because it’s less about the night itself but more about a reflection of a deeper internal conflict with your self value that you haven’t looked at yet”, Rachel shares.
I think I spoke too soon picks up where Rachel Chinouriri’s critically acclaimed 2024 debut album What A Devastating Turn of Events left off, and arrives as a marked evolution of her unique alt indie pop sound into expanded creative realms. The album was written and recorded across London, Hereford and Los Angeles with collaborators old (APOB, Mary Weitz, Glen Roberts and Daniel Hylton-Nuamah) and new (including Lucy Dacus and Eli Teplin).
We’ve all had that moment at a party, all alone in the bathroom, where you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and for an instant feel yanked into an existential vortex. I think I spoke too soon is a leap through that looking glass of the proverbial bathroom mirror; an interrogation into how sometimes in the reflection you can almost see yourself splintering into endless possible selves, paths and choices.
This record is a vivid and surrealist glimpse behind the curtain of some of the most pivotal years of Rachel’s life, told through the lens of a single, big night out. Lead single ‘One song away from crying’ sets the scene for an impending epiphany; a glossy synth pop starter with the all too familiar air of crying in the club but soldiering on regardless. A turbulent yet captivating journey that can loop (or maybe even spiral) endlessly, the album details the kind of night that shifts your whole world on its axis and reveals new truths about yourself.
The resulting project is an absorbingly vulnerable study into unpicking those tensions: between the internal and the external, our thoughts and our actions, who we are versus who we want to be. In many ways, this album is Rachel’s offering of loving permission; permission to fall and to get back up, to change, question, learn and grow in the face of the messy, beautiful reality of ongoing personal evolution. “My core thing is you can change who you are at any moment and you can forgive yourself at any moment,” she says. “And I think forgiving yourself is the first step in becoming a better person.”
I think I spoke too soon will be available on standard vinyl and CD, plus exclusive blue ecorecord available from independent retailers and HMV, and exclusive pink ecorecord via Amazon, with silver and blue inkplosion ecorecord deluxe vinyl and three exclusive sleeve CDs available via Rachel’s webstore.
Today Rachel also announces a run of headline shows to celebrate the announcement of I think I spoke too soon, with shows taking place in Los Angeles, New York, Dublin, London, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Sydney and Melbourne over the coming months. Next month Rachel will perform at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Festival, the only British artist invited by Olivia to join the bill. She has also been announced as support for Gracie Abrams’ North American arena tour, playing a seven-show run with her this December.
So far this year Rachel has also supported Florence + The Machine’s arena tour dates in the US and Ireland, played with Wolf Alice at London’s Finsbury Park earlier this month, and performed standout sets at Governors Ball, All Things Go Toronto and Bonnaroo festivals.
Rachel Chinouriri has long cemented her reputation as one of the UK’s finest young songwriters, a breakout voice leading the charge for a new wave of indie pop stars with a flair for tender hearted, perceptive lyricism and vivid sonic worldbuilding. The release of the London-born and based artist’s 2024 debut album What A Devastating Turn of Events led to two BRIT Award nominations – Artist Of The Year and Best New Artist – following prior Ivor Novello Award and BBC Sound Of nominations. Rachel was a recent recipient at the O2 Silver Clef Awards.
With her fiercely loyal fanbase the ‘Darlings’ behind her, Rachel has clocked up over 500 million global streams to date. She has been praised by the likes of British Vogue (“Chinouriri is leading the indie pop renaissance”), The Observer (“brimming with fresh ideas”), NME (“consistently charming”), GQ (“Chinouriri is set to dominate”), BBC Radio 1, Later… With Jools Holland and more.
2025 saw Rachel continuing to ascend with a prominent support slot on Sabrina Carpenter’s UK + Europe Short n’ Sweet arena tour, a sold out and upgraded debut US headline tour, plus her first headline show in Brazil. She also released her Little House EP and featured on Pink Pantheress’ rework of ‘Romeo’, with previous collaborators including Sombr, Cat Burns, Alemeda and more.
