Rwanda closes down four tourists’ hotels for failing to meet the required standards
After the inspection a number of hotels and other high-class hospitality facilities were served with temporary closure notices due to serious non- compliance with the country’s applicable tourism and hospitality requirements.

The National Development Board of Rwanda has announced the closure of four tourist hotels in the country due to what is being described as non-compliance.
According to an official release from the Irwanda Development Board (IRDB), the closing of the Non-Compliant Hospitality Establishments is however temporary, pending efforts by their respective managements to rectify the situation
The temporary Closure of Non-Compliant Hospitality Establishments, as far as the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) is concerned comes after the recent series of inspections conducted pursuant to its mandate to oversee tourism and hospitality standards.
After the inspection a number of hotels and other high-class hospitality facilities were served with temporary closure notices due to serious non- compliance with the country’s applicable tourism and hospitality requirements.
The properties that have been closed down include the Century Park Hotel and Residences, located in the Nyarutarama location of Kigali and is the only affected facility located within the Capital City.
Others are the Dove Luxury Hotel, operating from Gicumbi District in the Northern Province, the Highland Resort Limited which is found in the Rulindo District, within the Northern Province and the Nengo Eden Park Hotel based in Rubavu District of Western Province.
“The temporary closures are intended to allow the establishments to address identified deficiencies relating to licensing, hygiene, food safety, security, service quality, operational procedures, and other applicable standards,” explains the IRDB statement.
The board says the affected establishments are required to cease hospitality operations during the closure period and may only resume operations after submitting satisfactory evidence of corrective measures and undergoing verification by the competent authorities.
Under the same order, the Rwanda Development Board reminds all hospitality establishments to comply fully with applicable tourism, hospitality, hygiene, safety, security, food safety, and service delivery standards.
“Compliance is essential to safeguarding guests, staff, and the wider public, while upholding the quality and credibility of the hospitality sector,” insists the RDB, adding that the board will continue to monitor compliance and take appropriate regulatory action where necessary.
