The Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival 2026 was officially declared open on Thursday night in the capital, with thousands gathering at Mindoo Phillip Park for what organizers say is the largest and most expansive edition of the festival to date.

Minister for Tourism, Investment, Commerce, Culture and Creative Industries, Ernest Hilaire, described this year’s staging as the most ambitious yet, pointing to a significant expansion across multiple creative disciplines.
“This year is our biggest year in terms of the number of activities that we will have. The Arts Festival has grown beyond belief,” Hilaire said.

He highlighted several new additions, including free theatrical productions and the introduction of a culinary arts component under the festival’s Icon Series. The Minister also pointed to the expansion of community-based events leading up to the official opening, including Jazz in Bexon, Inspiration Jazz, and events in Anse La Raye.

Hilaire said the growth of the festival reflects the increasing strength of Saint Lucia’s creative industries, particularly among young performers.

“I’m really proud to see our young talent performing at the community level and showing they are ready for the main stage,” he noted.
A major feature of this year’s programme will be the inclusion of dancers on the main stage, performing alongside international acts, a move aimed at broadening the festival’s artistic scope beyond music.
Opening night delivered a dynamic showcase of regional and local talent, including a tribute to Kaiso legends, alongside performances from D’Yani, Valiant, Capleton, and Asa Banton, underscoring the festival’s diverse musical offering.

“This is a real sign of how our creative industry is growing,” the Minister added.
The opening night also drew what officials described as record-breaking attendance, surpassing last year’s turnout, with large crowds both inside and outside the venue.

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre, who represents Castries East, formally declared the festival open, welcoming patrons and encouraging them to fully embrace the experience.
He urged attendees to enjoy the music, the atmosphere, and the cultural showcase, while emphasizing the government’s commitment to delivering an even bigger event in the years ahead.
The Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival 2026 now continues with a packed calendar of performances, showcasing local, regional and international talent across music, theatre, dance and culinary arts.
