By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police have formally arrested and charged Chris Anthony Veris, a Belizean bartender of Santa Cruz, in connection with an aggravated burglary in Cristo Rey Village, Cayo District.
Veris has been charged with aggravated burglary, kept firearm without a gun license, and kept ammunition without a gun license.
The incident occurred on June 4, 2026. Police had previously reported that a 66-year-old woman was accosted at gunpoint outside her home, forced into the residence, and the home was ransacked. Officers responded after being alerted to the incident and reportedly saw two men fleeing the area. One suspect was apprehended, and police recovered a .22 pistol, ammunition, and jewelry belonging to the homeowner.
Police credited community vigilance and a quick police response for assisting in the arrest.
The matter remains under investigation.
