The FIFA World Cup is the biggest sporting event our history. Period. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be the largest World Cup we’ve ever seen, with an increase to 48 teams from the previous 32. And yes, with this tournament comes flair, passion and emotion of fans worldwide, but most of all? Music. The World Cup is iconic for having a multitude of songs that encapsulate the energy of the month long tournament. On Wednesday, June 10th, fans were treated to yet another song like no other. Andrea Bocelli, David Guetta, Megan Thee Stallion and EJAE come together to unite on DNA (More Than A Game). This will serve as the anthem for this World Cup and continue to shape the tournament’s sound.
If you’re thinking: Is that a typo? Really, those 4 artists coming together on one song? Your reaction would be totally valid, yet it’s not a typo. The song blends classical vocals, contemporary artistry and electronic production. It pulls from the wildly different genres of each artist and celebrates football as more than a game. These globally influenced artists reflect the diversity and spirit of the 48 team tournament held across 16 cities in 3 different countries. The 2026 World Cup is historic and this song exemplifies that to a tee.
The song is upbeat, catchy and overall what you’d expect from a “World Cup Song”. Global voices are on center stage. The Italian legend Andrea Bocelli brings his classical and timeless style that echo the tradition of the game. French DJ and Record Producer David Guetta brings his contemporary house style to the mix. EJAE brings a feeling of togetherness with her lyrics. She’s more than grateful to feature, “Being a part of the Official FIFA World Cup Anthem means so much to me. It’s especially meaningful because I was able to write Korean lyrics in the song—representing South Korea on this stage is such an honor.” Strangers come together and unite during the World Cup.
The Opening Ceremony
It’s modern yet nostalgic. There’s a strong message, yet it’s catchy. It’s exactly how it should be. This all comes together to form a united message: So we say, “Hey, we’re not gonna break, yeah, we’re standing here today ‘Cause it’s more than just a game, it’s our DNA.” It’s not to the heights of Shakira’s Waka Waka in 2010 or Jason Derulo’s ‘Colors’ in 2018, but with time it will be.
And the best part? Fans won’t have to wait to hear this magnificent tune! Andrea Bocelli and EJAE will perform DNA for the first time at the opening ceremony in Mexico City on Thursday, June, 11th. The Opening Ceremony of a World Cup sets the tone for the tournament. Bocelli himself is over the moon, “The title of the song DNA, says everything. Football has been in my life for as long as I can remember, and will always hold a very special place in my heart. To be invited to sing the anthem of the FIFA World Cup and to participate in the opening ceremony is an honor that moves me deeply.” The shared passion for football echoed across Mexico, Canada and America begins here.
Don’t miss any FIFA World Cup Games this Summer. It’s sure to be a good one!
