*STARZ is deepening its investment in original storytelling with a newly ordered scripted drama set in the world of Black rodeo. The untitled project will span eight one-hour episodes and represents the network’s second fully owned series as it continues to expand its in-house programming slate.
Set in Southeast Texas, the series explores a community where rodeo culture is deeply woven into identity and legacy, per the news release. At the heart of the story are three siblings navigating the expectations left behind by their parents while pursuing their own ambitions. As their lives intersect, shifting loyalties and personal conflicts shape a narrative where relationships evolve and tensions rise.
The show blends cultural influences, combining elements of hip hop and country to reflect the setting and tone of the story. It also builds on STARZ’s broader strategy to develop content that highlights underrepresented voices and experiences, particularly within Black Southern communities.

Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at STARZ, emphasized the network’s enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Messy family dynamics, jaw-dropping spectacle and an undeniable swagger – this is the kind of bold, original storytelling we’re proud to own from the ground up.”
She added, “With a touch of urban grit and a huge dose of country soul, it’s Texas through and through. There’s nothing else like it, and we’re thrilled to bring it to STARZ’s audiences.”
Kirk A. Moore will serve as showrunner and executive producer, alongside a team that includes Mark Johnson, Myki Bajaj, Tony Hernandez, Elise Henderson, and Lilly Burns. The series is overseen by STARZ executives Giovanna Desselle and Christina Jokanovich as development moves forward. The premiere date has not yet been announced.
