By Zoila Palma:  Today, Mayor Bernard Wagner welcomed Sajid Ali, UNICEF Belize Representative, to City Hall for a productive engagement focused on advancing shared priorities for children and young people in Belize City.

Discussions highlighted the strong collaboration between UNICEF Belize and the Belize City Council, including technical and financial support that has strengthened youth development, community outreach, child participation, and safe space initiatives across the municipality.

The meeting also explored opportunities to further expand and enhance interventions that empower young people and support their positive growth and development.

They also observed one of these initiatives in action, providing an opportunity to witness firsthand the impact of the Youth Development Interns Program and to engage directly with the young people helping to drive meaningful change within their communities.

The Belize City Council extended appreciation to UNICEF Belize for its continued partnership and investment in Belize City’s youth.
