Eryn Bonner arrest: What happened?

According to Tempe police, officers were in the process of arresting other individuals when Bonner, who is Black, allegedly moved back toward the scene after being instructed to stay away, according to Cleveland.com. The situation quickly turned physical.

Police allege Bonner interfered with officers and struck an officer during the struggle. Her attorney, however, argues that officers used unnecessary force. Video appears to show Bonner being pushed to the ground and forcefully restrained by a white officer, eventually toppling over a bicycle during the arrest. Photos released afterward showed bruising on her face, which sparked mixed reactions online.
