Victorville man arrested on suspicion of killing two family members from Cerritos, injuring a third victim

A 45-year-old man was arrested and accused of killing two family members and injuring another in Victorville Friday, Feb. 20.

Sydney Smith of Victorville was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder Saturday, Feb. 21 and was being held without bail.

Deputies responded just before 9 p.m. on Friday to the 13000 block of Sundown Road, where they found two women and a man who had been shot, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department statement.

They were taken to a hospital where the women, 48-year-old Ayanna Smith and 26-year-old Annaya Scott, both of Cerritos, died. The third victim, a 28-year-old man of Redlands, remained in the hospital as of Sunday.

Detectives identified Sydney Smith, a family member, as a suspect in the case. The Sheriff’s Department did not immediately specify how the parties were related or a motive in the case.
