wev Goes Off The “SPECTRUM”

Brooklyn-based producer and DJ wev has tapped Bristol-based UK Garage rising star scruz, for their latest collaboration, “SPECTRUM.” The vibrant, high-velocity dance cut pushes wev’s nostalgic club influences further into overdrive as the third release from his forthcoming debut album OST, arriving May 29. The track continues the NY rave-scene mainstay’s evolving club-driven sound following recent singles “GET W THIS” and the rap-infused dance cut “TECHNOCHRONIC” featuring Yoshi T. of WHATMORE

“SPECTRUM” showcases the pair’s playful yet precision-driven club production. Pulsing basslines and kinetic percussion launch the track forward while shimmering synths race across the mix with the intensity of a late-night driving circuit or a sweat-soaked dancefloor at peak hour. Characteristic of wev’s ‘90s-inspired club music and digital escapism, the single is a euphoric rush of sound that balances underground club textures with vivid, almost cinematic world-building. Living up to its name, “SPECTRUM” unfolds like a color-maxxing collision of flashing frequencies, drawing listeners deeper into its high-speed universe. Equal parts rave-ready and transportive, the track captures the feeling of chasing momentum at full speed.

wev’s sound is rooted in the DNA of ‘90s house and garage — inherited not through the dancefloor, but through play. Raised on late-’90s video game soundtracks that reflected the club music of that era, he traced those sounds back to the source and built something native to both worlds: music that moves a club the way a great soundtrack moves through a game. Like the games that shaped him, wev creates immersive worlds for listeners to get lost in. 1202 Magazine describes his musical landscape as “a joy that feels both euphoric and intimate, like stumbling into a hidden level you didn’t know existed.” His work is brought to life through visualizations by longtime collaborator Nam Mac (@lordstingray), whose work has also appeared in campaigns for Marc Jacobs’ HeavenAdidas, and G-Shock.
