If you grew up watching The Cosby Show, chances are you remember Kenny—better known as “Bud”—the hilarious, mischievous friend who was always popping up around the Huxtable household. So, whatever happened to Kenny from The Cosby Show? Well, Deon Richmond, the actor behind the memorable character, has had quite the journey since his days hanging out with Rudy Huxtable. And while he may not be in the Hollywood spotlight the way he was as a kid, Deon Richmond never exactly disappeared.
In fact, his career has taken some pretty interesting turns.
From “Bud” to Child-Star Fame.
Born June 2, 1978, in New York City, Deon Richmond got his start in entertainment as a child actor. But it was his role as Kenny, aka “Bud,” on The Cosby Show that made him a familiar face in living rooms across America.
From 1986 to 1992, Kenny from The Cosby Show appeared in 32 episodes, becoming Rudy Huxtable’s funny, sometimes misguided childhood friend, according to Fandom. Richmond’s performance was memorable enough that he and the ensemble cast earned a Young Artist Award.
But The Cosby Show wasn’t the only major credit on young Deon Richmond’s résumé.
He appeared alongside Eddie Murphy in the opening scenes of Eddie Murphy Raw and also landed a role in Spike Lee’s Mo’ Better Blues. Not bad for a kid just getting started in Hollywood.
