BASSETERRE, St. Kitts and Nevis — Young track and field prospect Amaziah Barry has made an impressive early statement for the 2026/2027 athletics season, surpassing the qualifying standard for the 2027 Carifta Games in the long jump.
Competing at the first meet of the 2026/2027 season, Barry exceeded the 6.30-metre qualifying mark, signalling his readiness to compete at the highest level of junior athletics in the Caribbean.
The talented young athlete, a former standout at Tucker Clarke Primary School, now attends Washington Archibald High School and represents the Fast Twitch Track Club.
Barry’s early-season performance highlights his continued development and potential as an emerging talent in St. Kitts and Nevis athletics. Surpassing the Carifta qualifying standard at the opening meet provides a strong foundation as he looks ahead to an exciting season.
With plenty of competition remaining on the 2026/2027 calendar, Barry will now focus on continued improvement, consistency, and preparation as he works toward the 2027 Carifta Games.
St. Kitts and Nevis Athletics (SKN Athletics) congratulates Amaziah Barry on this outstanding achievement and wishes the young prodigy continued success throughout the 2026/2027 season.
