Zambia’s digital transformation agenda is gaining momentum following a strategic engagement between Zambia National Commercial Bank (Zanaco) and Smart Zambia Institute, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the government and private sector.
The engagement, held on 10 August 2026, brought together a Zanaco delegation led by CEO Mukwandi Chibesakunda and Zambia’s Government Chief Technical Officer, Kasali Musenge, alongside other officials and technology stakeholders.
According to Percy Chinyama, the meeting went beyond a courtesy engagement, with both sides aligning their priorities and discussing practical pathways to accelerate Zambia’s digital agenda.
The discussions focused on the role of public-private partnerships in advancing the country’s digital transformation, particularly through investments in digital infrastructure, innovation and inclusive access to technology.
Chinyama said collaboration with private-sector organisations such as Zanaco would be critical to building the digital infrastructure needed to improve government service delivery, support commerce and expand opportunities for citizens.
The engagement underscores Zambia’s push to move from digital transformation plans to practical implementation, with stronger cooperation between government and businesses positioned as a key driver of the country’s digital economy.
