Accra is set to host the maiden edition of the Guinea Fowl Bazaar, a two-day event aimed at promoting agriculture, tourism, and Northern Ghanaian cuisine.
The event, scheduled for May 1–2, 2026, will take place at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park and is being organised by the By Faith Catering Services in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
The Director of the By Faith Catering Services, Dame Matilda Z. Pipio Eib, said the bazaar, which has been held annually in Tamale since 2019 as part of Farmers’ Day celebrations, has grown into a nationally recognised platform supporting smallholder farmers and promoting guinea fowl production and consumption.
She noted that this year’s edition, themed “Experience the North in the South,” marks the first time the event is being hosted in the national capital, bringing the culinary and cultural heritage of Northern Ghana to a wider audience.
According to her, activities lined up for the event include the sale and display of grilled, fried, smoked, and fresh guinea fowls, alongside other local dishes from Northern Ghana. There will also be cultural performances, traditional music, product exhibitions, and media engagements.
Dame Pipio Eib stated that the bazaar sought to encourage youth participation in poultry farming, provide direct market access for farmers, and promote domestic tourism.
She described the bazaar as a not-for-profit initiative focused on community empowerment, agricultural development, and cultural promotion.
Dame Pipio Eib said her outfit has extended invitations to various groups and institutions, expressing confidence that strong participation will enhance the growth of Ghana’s poultry value chain and strengthen national cultural appreciation.
The event is expected to attract high-profile guests, including the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, who is the Guest of Honour; chiefs and traditional authorities; a former Vice President; representatives of key institutions, development partners; and members of the public.
By Faith Catering Services, organisers of the event, won the Food, Beverage and Entertainment (Individual) category at the 2025 National Tourism Awards.
