South African star Focalistic has made history as the first African musician to collaborate with Adidas South Africa, unveiling a landmark cultural release centered around the new FocaForum 2000.
The collaboration sees Adidas rework its classic Adidas Forum model, originally introduced in 1984 as a performance basketball sneaker before evolving into a global streetwear staple. Known for its signature strap design and premium leather construction, the silhouette has long been a canvas for cultural reinvention, and the FocaForum 2000 continues that legacy through a distinctly African lens.
Designed as a tribute to Pretoria, the FocaForum 2000 channels the energy of Focalistic’s persona, “President Ya Straata,” blending bold black leather with gold accents, red detailing, and amplified street-inspired design elements. The sneaker reflects his journey from Ga-Rankuwa to international stages, celebrating street culture, creative expression, and the spirit of Straata Nation.
At its core, the collaboration is deeply personal. Every detail tells a story, from the embedded map of Ga-Rankuwa to symbolic references such as the Union Buildings and Straata Nation iconography. The design transforms lived experience into wearable art, reinforcing the connection between identity, place, and global influence.
The release also extends into apparel, featuring boxy-fit graphic T-shirts that carry Focalistic branding layered over street map visuals of his hometown. Additional pieces include designs with the Adidas Trefoil logo, alongside “Focalistic” and “18” detailing across multiple colourways, further embedding his creative identity into the collection.
