Residents can now access emergency preparedness advice, hazard information and shelter locations through the Department of Disaster Management’s new website.
The department unveiled ddmaxa.ai on 26 June, describing it as a trusted source of information to help the public prepare for hurricanes and other hazards that could affect the island.
The website provides information about the department and its services, preparedness guidelines, emergency shelter locations and safety resources.

In a social media post announcing the launch, the department said it is intended to strengthen disaster preparedness and resilience across Anguilla by making reliable information readily accessible.
The new online resource comes one month into this year’s Atlantic hurricane season, as the department renews its call for the public to complete their hurricane preparedness activities.

In a video on 19 June, Premier Cora Richardson Hodge called on residents and visitors to complete their hurricane preparations and remain vigilant and informed as the season gets underway.
“The effects of climate change means storms are intensifying more quickly than in the past, giving communities less time to prepare,” she said.
“For 2026 forecasters are predicting a slightly below average season, but let’s be clear, it only takes one storm to cause serious damage.”
This year’s weather is expected to be influenced by El Niño, bringing the potential for longer periods of hot, dry weather interspersed with episodes of heavy rainfall, which could increase risks.
Governor Julia Crouch urged residents to prepare their households by stocking enough food, drinking water, prescription medications, first aid supplies and hygiene items to last several days.

She also encouraged people to secure their homes by checking shutters, roofs and drainage, and to ensure phones and power banks are fully charged to allow for communication.
The What3Words app (available here) can be downloaded to help emergency services locate people in need, the governor added.
Crouch also stressed the importance of having a family emergency plan, adding: “You need to identify where you’ll be safe if a hurricane were to come, and how you would communicate if you were separated.”
