Another Ebola treatment camp set on fire in the Democratic Republic of Congo
With such consistent attacks on health facilities, it being reported that more than 50 Ebola patients have been forced to flee and these remain at large spreading the infections further

At least 25 Ebola patients have fled from a hospital at Bunia, in the Eastern Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, after some unknown attackers invaded the medical facility and burned down isolation tents.
The recent attacks were the third in a series of such assault incidents occurring in DR Congo and targeting Ebola treatment centers.
In the previous attacks at Mongbwalu, 20 Ebola patients had escaped, and these are still at large.
The Bunia incident is recorded among the at least three recent attacks in Ituri province, where the new Ebola Virus outbreak was first reported.
With such consistent attacks on health facilities, it being reported that more than 50 Ebola patients have been forced to flee and these remain at large spreading the infections further
Two of those incidents targeted the same hospital, allowing dozens of patients to escape and raising concerns about further transmission and disease spread.
The number of Ebola positive patients that have so far escaped is nearly 50 and counting.
Dr. Richard Lokodu, is the medical director of Mongbwalu General Referral Hospital, a facility which was also attacked twice within a single weekend who warned that mistrust and denial remain major obstacles to containing the disease.
“There is a persistent refusal among some members of the community to accept the reality of Ebola,” he said.
“In some cases, families attempt to reclaim the bodies of suspected or confirmed patients, complicating response efforts.”
Health workers say the combination of insecurity, misinformation, and community resistance is undermining efforts to control the outbreak in an already fragile region.
Meanwhile there is a major uproar on social media platforms after news went viral that the Trump administration is considering a plan to transfer American citizens who have been exposed to Ebola to Kenya.
Kenyans are aghast and have been verbal in taking onto social media and vehemently opposing the Washington move.
It seems the United States is planning to erect a quarantine facility in Kenya, rather than repatriating them to the United States.
The proposal reportedly includes deploying US military resources to construct and support the site.
On the other hand, there are reports that a similar quarantine facility may be set up in the neighboring Uganda.
The discussions come amid ongoing Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring Uganda.
According to reports, the proposed facility would serve as a controlled environment to isolate and assess those exposed, with the aim of limiting further spread while managing cases closer to the center of the outbreak.
