Youth are taking community cleanliness into their own hands in Anse La Raye.

In a statement from the Youth on Fire Movement — Anse La Raye (YOFM), the group issued a call to residents and organisations to come out for Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, January 24.

”The activity will focus on cleaning streets, public areas, and coastal spaces, with special attention given to proper waste disposal and environmental awareness,” the group’s statement read.

“All residents are encouraged to participate by volunteering their time, energy, and commitment to making Anse La Raye a cleaner and more welcoming place for all.”

Organisers are extending the invitation to community groups, youth and sports clubs, churches, fisherfolk, and residents to join the effort.

The activity is set to begin at 7 a.m. but will take place throughout the village. Organisers say to participate, individuals can step out and join community members making their way across the village.

“Participants are encouraged to arrive early, wear comfortable clothing, and come prepared to contribute positively to this important cause,” said YOFM.

The group says the aim of the activity is to protect the village’s environment while enhancing public spaces and improving the cleanliness and overall appearance of the community.
