Average Date Now Costs Nearly $200

(AURN News) – Looking for love is becoming more expensive.

A report from BMO’s Real Financial Progress Index shows that the average date now costs nearly $200, as rising prices continue to affect nearly every aspect of daily life.

The report also found that Americans are going on fewer dates. The average person now goes on 12 dates a year, down from 14 in 2025.

For many singles, the cost is becoming hard to justify.

According to the survey, 47% of single Americans say dating is “not financially worth it.”

The financial burden appears especially pronounced among younger generations.

Half of Gen Z respondents and 40% of Millennials say the expense of dating is preventing them from reaching their financial goals.

The report also found that Millennials spend an average of $252 on dates, a 32% increase from 2025. Gen Z respondents now spend an average of $205, up from $194 a year ago.
