Education Minister Kenson Casimir has dismissed claims circulating on social media that he was denied a United States visa as false, describing the allegations as mischievous.
The claims appeared in a Facebook post that alleged both Casimir and Housing Minister Richard Frederick were recently refused US visas. The post called on the Prime Minister to provide clarification and suggested that several Saint Lucian citizens may also be facing similar outcomes.
In response, Casimir categorically denied the allegation.
“You know most times I do not respond to a lot of things that are said on Facebook, but sometimes it could be so mischievous that you just have to say something,” Casimir said.
He stated unequivocally that he has never been denied a US visa.
“I have never been denied a US visa in my life,” the minister said.
Casimir further countered the claim by disclosing that recent visa applications submitted for his twin girls were successful.
“I applied for my twins’ visas and they both got their visas today (December 30),” he said.
The minister suggested that the allegations were politically motivated by the opposition United Workers Party (UWP) and aimed at misleading the public.
“At the rate they’re going, they will be in opposition for the next 20 years because they think the only way they can ever win something is by lying,” Casimir said.
He ended his remarks by reaffirming his party’s confidence heading into the new year.
“The mood is still red. Happy New Year,” he said.
