CSA Election Fallout Deepens As Commission Rejects “Baseless” Allegations

The St. Lucia Civil Service Association Elections Commission has strongly defended the integrity of its recent internal elections, insisting the April 29, 2026 vote was conducted in a “fair, free, transparent and orderly” manner despite mounting allegations from the opposing One Team slate.

The Commission’s response follows a formal objection filed on May 2 by the One Team candidates, who alleged that the electoral process breached the association’s constitution and was fundamentally flawed.

In a sharply worded notice issued on May 8, General Secretary Mac Stephen Aubertin condemned what the Commission described as personal attacks and “unsubstantiated allegations” circulating in the media against election officials.

“These baseless assertions are entirely without merit and seek to undermine the credibility of the electoral process and unfairly seek to discredit individuals who carried out their duties professionally, impartially, and with integrity,” the statement said.

The Elections Commission maintained that the outcome reflected the democratic will of the CSA membership and urged all parties to respect the results and preserve confidence in the association’s electoral system.

The controversy has intensified interest among members awaiting the official breakdown of results for Executive and Trustee positions. In an addendum released later the same day, the General Secretary clarified that the detailed results remain contained within a formal elections report that is still to be presented to the Conference of Delegates.

According to the notice, the report and results will be officially read during the Conference in the “usual and approved manner” on June 3, 2026, marking the final stage of the CSA’s electoral process.

Until then, the Commission has urged members to be guided accordingly while thanking candidates, election officials, and delegates for their participation and continued commitment to the democratic principles of the association.
