A new investigation by Dolcefino Media is raising concerns about transparency and accountability within the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office in the ongoing case surrounding the death of Sherry Novosad.

Dolcefino Media was recently granted an opportunity to review body camera footage from the day deputies discovered Novosad dead inside her home in Dayton, Texas. However, what was expected to be a step toward transparency quickly turned into another attempt to withhold critical information.

According to Dolcefino Media, both its investigative team and Novosad’s family were required to sign a non-disclosure agreement before being allowed to view any footage. The agreement would have prohibited them from discussing what they saw or sharing information with third parties.

“I refused to sign that nonsense,” said Wayne Dolcefino.

Family members, Kathy and Carl Hatcher, also refused to sign the agreement, resulting in the meeting ending without any footage being reviewed.

The investigation highlights the ongoing concerns about how the case has been handled since Novosad’s death, which was ruled a suicide despite objections from her family. Dolcefino Media previously uncovered male DNA as key evidence, prompting Liberty County Sheriff Bobby Rader to agree to reopen the investigation.

Dolcefino Media’s latest findings also point to conflicting statements from law enforcement about whether the case is actively being investigated. While officials claim the case remains open, the media firm says actions taken by the Sheriff’s Office suggest otherwise.

The investigation also criticizes the role of the Texas Rangers, citing delays and a lack of communication with the family. The family continues to call for full transparency, including the release of body camera footage and access to key investigative records.

“It breaks my heart because there are so many questions that are unanswered,” said Kathy Hatcher. “It seems like everybody just shoves us around and doesn’t want to answer anything.”

Dolcefino Media insists that public access to body camera footage is critical for accountability and argues that current Texas law allows too much discretion in withholding such evidence.

Dolcefino Media will continue its investigation and pursue the release of information it believes is essential to uncovering the truth behind Sherry Novosad’s death.
