ZANZIBAR: EQUITY Bank Tanzania has officially launched the Zanzibar Supreme Banking Center in the Kijangwani area of Zanzibar’s Urban West Region, in a move aimed to enhance financial services for high-net-worth clients, investors, and business owners.
The new facility was inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Hamad Omar Bakar. With the opening of the center, Equity Bank Tanzania now operates two branches in Zanzibar and a total of 19 branches nationwide.
Speaking at the launch event, Equity Bank Tanzania Chief Executive Officer Isabela Maganga said the new center forms part of the bank’s strategy to strengthen financial services, promote financial inclusion, and support Zanzibar’s economic growth.
“The launch of the Zanzibar Supreme Center marks an important milestone in our journey to bring financial services closer to our customers. Through this facility, we aim to provide banking solutions tailored to the needs of individual clients, medium and large businesses, corporations, investors, and the hospitality sector, which remains one of the key pillars of Zanzibar’s economy,” Maganga said.

She added that the bank will continue investing in customer service infrastructure, digital banking systems, and financial solutions that facilitate business growth, improve access to capital, and encourage long-term investment.
According to the bank, the Zanzibar Supreme Center has been specifically designed to serve affluent clients, entrepreneurs, corporations, investors, and stakeholders in the tourism industry by offering premium banking services tailored to both personal and business needs.

Services available at the center include account opening, lending facilities, business banking solutions, international financial services, digital banking, financial advisory services, and specialized relationship management for clients requiring personalized financial support.
The launch is also aligned with the Zanzibar Revolutionary Government’s efforts to promote a competitive economy, increase private sector participation, and expand access to formal financial services for citizens and investors.
Equity Bank Tanzania currently operates 19 branches across the country, including in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma, Moshi, Mbeya, Morogoro, Geita, Kahama, and Zanzibar, reflecting the institution’s commitment to bringing financial services closer to communities and supporting Tanzania’s economic development.
