*During the May 4 episode of “American Idol,” Randy Jackson returned to the series as a guest mentor for the Season 24 Top 5 contestants. The segment focused on helping the singers prepare for their live performances, with Jackson offering feedback and guidance during rehearsal sessions.
Although the episode centered on the competition’s next stage, attention online quickly shifted toward Jackson’s appearance. As clips circulated, viewers began expressing concern across social media platforms. Per TV Insider, reactions on X included comments such as “Is Randy Jackson ok? Looks and sounds so weak,” alongside posts stating, “Randy Jackson does not look well.”
Others echoed similar concern, writing, “Randy Jackson can’t even stand up, he’s so frail,” and “Randy Jackson looking really ill. It’s great seeing him again, but I am worried.”

“Ozempic Randy Jackson can’t even stand up, he’s so frail. Pathetic,” one person wrote online.
“Is Randy sick or is it just his oldness showing tonight because it’s painful to watch. I’ve always loved him,” another posted.
Jackson’s health history has been widely documented over the years. He was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2002 and later underwent gastric bypass surgery, resulting in significant weight loss. In 2019, he also had spinal surgery following a back injury.
When Jackson appeared on “The Dr. Oz Show,” he discussed the moment that pushed him to get serious about his health. “Well, being on the show, being overweight, having mirrors in my house because on Idol, different than any other show, I think it’s the greatest music game show ever, because we were really real with contestants,” he explained.
“If you said to a contestant, you may need to drop some weight because you’re trying to build stars, you’ve got to work on your image, and they would look at me. If I said, ‘I didn’t like their singing.’ They all go, ‘Randy, you’re fat. You’re overweight too.’ I go, ‘I have mirrors in my house. I know this,’” he added.
Despite the concern expressed online, Jackson appeared engaged during his return to “American Idol.” The episode also featured Paula Abdul as a guest judge, joining Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie on the panel.
The “American Idol” Season 24 finale airs May 11 at 8/7c on ABC.
