THE newly formed SurreyNow elector organization on May 2 officially launched its campaign for the 2026 municipal election.
At the event, local builder and business owner Troy Van Vliet formally announced his candidacy for Mayor of Surrey. Standing alongside him was the full SurreyNow slate, a team of professionals committed to a vision of “Safe Streets, Smart Growth, and Strong Families.”
“Surrey is at a crossroads, and it deserves leadership that delivers practical results and long-term thinking,” said Van Vliet. “Our team is ready to bring accountability back to City Hall and ensure our growth is managed responsibly for the families who call this city home.”
The SurreyNow slate features a diverse group of community leaders running for City Council and the Surrey School Board.
Candidates for Surrey City Council:
Andrew Garisto, Brad Kielmann, Dr. Werner Spangehl, Jesse Johl, Rahul Gill and Cheney Cloke.
Candidates for Surrey School Board:
Silveria Roselli, Dave Armstrong, John Banovich and Ray Goldenchild.
The launch event highlighted the party’s four primary pillars:
1. Safe Streets: Prioritizing neighbourhood safety through effective bylaw enforcement and community policing.
2. Smart Growth: Ensuring infrastructure, transportation, and services keep pace with Surrey’s rapid population growth.
3. Strong Families: Advocating for provincial funding and school capacity planning to support local families.
4. A City Hall That Delivers: Committed to transparency, clear budget reporting, and reduced red tape.
