Farmers participate in Participatory Integrated Climate Services for Agriculture training

By Zoila Palma: On June 3, 2026, 40 farmers from Santa Martha Village, Orange Walk District, participated in a Participatory Integrated Climate Services for Agriculture (PICSA) training focused on pineapple, plantain, and vegetable production.

The Ministry of Agriculture noted that the session provided farmers with practical tools to use climate information for better agricultural planning and decision-making. Special thanks to Shenea Young and Akeisha Maldonado from the Belize Meteorological Service for presenting valuable meteorological and climate data that supported the training.

The training was facilitated by Pedro Gonzalez, Miguel Huertas, Jesse Madrid and William Tuyud, SAIB Extension Officer.

The Ministry says that these trainings continue to strengthen climate-smart agriculture and improve resilience among Belizean farmers.
