Female BDF soldier granted $2,500 bail after allegedly fleecing $8,000 worth of clothes and MacBook from woman she claims she doesn’t even know

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A female Belize Defence Force soldier is out on bail after being arraigned on a theft charge involving more than $9,000 worth of items.

Thirty-five-year-old Marilou Elizabeth Aldana appeared unrepresented this morning in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where she was read a single charge of theft before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2.

Aldana is accused of dishonestly appropriating an assortment of clothing valued at US$4,000, along with an Apple MacBook valued at US$600. The total value of the items is US$4,600, equivalent to BZ$9,200.

The alleged theft reportedly occurred on Friday, June 26, 2026.

Aldana pleaded not guilty to the charge. Before offering bail, the Senior Magistrate asked whether she was related to or knew the virtual complainant. Aldana told the court that she does not even know the complainant.

There was no objection to bail from the police prosecutor, and Aldana was offered bail in the sum of $2,500 plus one surety of the same amount. She was able to meet bail by after 2:00 this afternoon.

Aldana is due back in court on August 24, 2026, when disclosure is expected to be provided.
