By Breaking Belize News Staff: A former cashier of Madisco Company Limited was back in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for a second appearance on a theft charge involving more than $45,000.
Kelsey Pope, who turned 25 on Saturday, May 16, appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Neeshad Mohammed in Court #7. Her matter is normally before Court #3, but that Magistrate was unavailable.
Pope is accused of stealing $45,421.34 in cash from Madisco Company Limited. She remains out on bail and the matter was adjourned to June 26, 2026, when disclosure is expected to be provided.
Pope was first arraigned on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, on a single count of theft. The allegation stems from a police report made on February 26, 2026, by Madisco’s Financial Controller.
According to the report, between November 3, 2025 and December 3, 2025, Pope, then employed as a cashier at Madisco’s Belize City branch on Cleghorn Street, was allegedly required to deposit $45,421.34 in sales into the company’s bank account. Police say the money was never deposited and remained unaccounted for.
The Financial Controller told police that Pope had not been given permission to take the money.
Following an investigation, police say statements were recorded and documents were collected. Pope later handed herself in to police on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, after being wanted in connection with the theft allegation.
She was charged later that day and taken to court the following morning, where bail was granted.
