I recently read an article in Al Jazeera asking a deceptively simple question: Is the world prepared for the next pandemic? The piece reviewed the latest Ebola flare-ups in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, hantavirus fears, rising anti-vaccine rhetoric and the World Health Organization’s (WHO) money problems. But really, the article wasn’t about Ebola or hantavirus. It was about readiness, robustness and whether the world has taken notice of what COVID-19 taught us.
