What started as a single Instagram post has grown into a defining moment for Harlem’s new wave of fashion innovators.

Dreamerz Creative Group, the Harlem-born creative house, debuted its custom Timberland boot collaboration on April 11 with an exclusive pop-up at Harlem Haberdashery, drawing a crowd rooted in community, culture and creative ambition.

For co-founder and Creative Director Justin Payne, the journey began without a formal pitch deck or corporate strategy. Instead, it started with a viral image.

“In the middle of December, we posted three Timberland field boots in colors they never came in,” Payne said. “It went viral, and people started asking how to get them. We had to figure it out in real time.”

That moment forced the brand to evolve quickly, from concept to product, from side hustle to business.

Co-founder and Brand Director Deisia Hopkins said the experience reinforced a key lesson about today’s fashion landscape: preparation meets opportunity.

“The things you want in life, you have to be ready when it happens,” Hopkins said. “We didn’t have a product at first, just an idea. Now we’re building something real.”

The Dreamerz Collective’s debut features bold, limited-edition colorways, including Toasted Peanut Butter & Jelly, Slime Time and Raspberry Cornbread, a reimagining of a boot deeply embedded in New York culture.

“This is a boot my dad wore, my grandparents wore,” Hopkins said. “So it’s important that we inspire and uplift our community while doing something new.”

The Harlem pop-up reflected that mission. Attendees included longtime friends, family and local supporters, many of whom watched the founders’ journey from its earliest stages.

“These are people I grew up with,” Hopkins said. “To see that level of love and support, it was beautiful.”

The event also drew notable names across music and digital culture, underscoring the brand’s growing influence. Still, the founders say their focus remains intentional, not trend-driven.

“We’re not chasing what’s next,” Hopkins said. “We sit down, we plan, and we create with purpose.”

Beyond footwear, Dreamerz is positioning itself as a cultural platform, one that extends into mentorship, community outreach and future expansion into apparel and accessories. The brand also has its sights set on New York Fashion Week within the next year.

For Hopkins, the work is deeply personal. Inspired by her great-grandmother, a seamstress who migrated from the South to Harlem, she sees the brand as part of a larger legacy.

“I’m living my dream,” she said. “And I know she’s proud.”

As Dreamerz continues to grow, its foundation remains clear: community first, culture always,  and a belief that sometimes, all it takes is one post to change everything.
