Saul Badjie, a man whose life was dedicated entirely to the service of others, has been called from our midst. He has gone far too soon. He leaves behind his beloved wife, his family, and all who knew and admired him, and a loss that no words can truly measure. Saul was not merely present among us. He was a voice, a clear, steady, unyielding voice, for those who had no platform, no one to speak their name. Where others turned away, he turned toward the forgotten. Where voices were drowned out by the noise of public life, Saul raised his own so they might be heard. He championed the cause of the overlooked, the marginalised, and those who were made to feel their hopes did not matter.

He did not seek power for himself. He sought progress for his people. He stood firm alongside all those who refuse to settle, who refuse to accept anything less than the justice, dignity, and opportunity that every person in The Gambia deserves. In every season, through every challenge, he remained consistent: loyal to the truth, faithful to the people, unwavering in his belief that our nation can and must be better. That is the legacy he leaves us: not just words, but a standard. A reminder that public life is a trust, not a prize, and that service is the highest form of respect we can show one another. Saul, your work is finished for now. You have fought the good fight. You have kept the faith.

Rest now in the peace you earned through every act of kindness, every word spoken for the voiceless, every stand you took for justice. And may the justice you pursued with all your heart take root, grow strong, and flourish in the land you loved so deeply. You will not be forgotten. Your voice will echo in the lives you changed. Your example will light the way for those who follow. Sleep well.
