Iboomz Drops Deeply Personal Debut EP ‘ZIDATIFE’

Rising Nigerian artist Iboomz officially steps into the spotlight with the release of his highly anticipated debut EP, “ZIDATIFE.” The six-track project is a vibrant and deeply personal body of work, blending Afro-fusion rhythms with introspective storytelling, all crafted entirely on home soil in Nigeria.

More than just a musical introduction, “ZIDATIFE” carries a profound meaning. Derived from the Igbo language, the title translates to “to send down something,” symbolizing the arrival of hope, strength, and healing from a higher source. At the same time, the project serves as a heartfelt tribute to Iboomz’s late cousin, whose life and energy continue to inspire the emotional core of the EP.

The journey to “ZIDATIFE” began in April 2025, sparked by the creation of the first beat for “Yanga.” From that moment, each track unfolded organically, as if revealed rather than constructed. The result is a collection of songs shaped by real experiences—grief, fear, struggle, hope, and resilience—brought to life through vivid soundscapes and expressive storytelling. This emotional range is mirrored in the EP’s artwork, where a splash of colors represents the diverse feelings embedded in the music.

Recorded entirely in Abuja, with sessions held at Reminda Beats Studio in Faplins Estate, the project stands as a fully homegrown effort. With beats pre-produced and lyrics carefully written in advance, Iboomz and his team completed recording in just eight hours across two days, highlighting a focused and intentional creative process.

At its core, “ZIDATIFE” is designed to connect. Iboomz invites listeners to first enjoy the music, then find their own meaning within it—whether as a source of motivation, healing, or personal reflection. The EP speaks to shared human experiences, offering a sense of unity through sound.

Iboomz’s journey to this moment is as compelling as the music itself. Having started out playing guitar in 2008 and writing songs as a teenager, he spent years refining his craft behind the scenes. While building a successful career in solid minerals and metals trading, he earned the nickname “musician-businessman.” In 2023, he made a decisive shift, teaching himself music production and fully committing to his artistry. Within a year, he established his own studio, gaining complete control over his creative process as a producer, songwriter, and performer.

Sonically, Iboomz operates at the intersection of intellectual rap and Afro-fusion, weaving Afrobeat rhythms with influences from jazz, country, and indie music. Inspired by the storytelling tradition of West African griots, he positions himself as both narrator and observer, using music as a medium to document emotion, philosophy, and lived experience.

Following a run of singles in 2025, including “Afro Country,” “Amina,” “Lagos–Tokyo,” “Runaway Soldier,” and “Broken,” “ZIDATIFE” arrives as a defining milestone in his artistic evolution.

With this debut, Iboomz doesn’t just introduce his sound—he delivers a message. “ZIDATIFE” is a project rooted in purpose, offering listeners something meaningful, uplifting, and undeniably authentic.
