Blending elements of Southern Gothic, Western, and dark comedy, the film presents a distinct tonal mix that sets it apart within the suspense and thriller genres. At its core, “Is God Is” follows two sisters driven by a painful past as they set out on a journey for revenge tied to their family history.
The story centers on siblings connected by a traumatic childhood experience, as they pursue justice against the father responsible for their suffering. Their path forces them to confront deeply personal challenges while pushing them toward extreme decisions in their search for closure.
“Is God Is” marks the feature directorial debut of Aleshea Harris, who also wrote the screenplay. The film is adapted from Harris’ award-winning play of the same name, bringing a story originally developed for the stage to a wider audience on screen.
The cast also includes Mykelti Williamson and Josiah Cross, adding depth to the film’s ensemble. Behind the scenes, the project is backed by producers Tessa Thompson, Kishori Rajan, Riva Marker, Janicza Bravo, and Aleshea Harris, with executive producers Stacy O’Neil, Nicole King, and Kenneth Yu.
